Pro-Am Smooth Rankings
Students ranked by their BallroomRank score. Teachers are not rated. Reading the table. Rank follows the displayed score, highest first. One- and five-year boards show the current score; ten-year, all-time and historical boards show each student’s score after their last event in the window. Scores are shared across age and association filters and do not carry a calibrated ± uncertainty estimate. Pro-Am and Mixed-Am rank students, with their teacher shown underneath. All couples puts Professional, Amateur and Same-sex / Equality couples on one board (each couple counted once, with its events across the three); students are not included because their scores come from a separate model. How this score works. Pro-Am and Mixed-Am scores come from a separate student-only model: one strength per student and style, fitted on contested student results with every teacher, so the teacher is never rated from teaching. Scores compare students with students in a dance style, not with couple scores.Levels. A level lists the students whose heats in the twelve months up to their last competition in this style were mostly at that level (a tie counts as the higher level), ranked among themselves with the same BallroomRank score they have on the full board. Open covers open-choreography heats: novice, pre-championship, rising star, championship and open.Age groups. An age group lists the couples who competed together in it during the activity window, with the same overall score they have on the full board. Pro-Am and Mixed-Am qualify students with any teacher; the teacher is never rated. A, A1 and other labels stay separate; age cutoffs depend on the event. Over 35 and other explicit cutoffs stay separate from numbered Senior tiers unless the event states a tier. Unknown ages are not inferred.Started in. Ranks dancers, not couples, among others who started in the same group: the group most of their events belonged to in their first twelve months (Collegiate, Juvenile/Junior, Youth, Adult, Senior or Pro-Am student), in five-year bands of their first competition. Pro-Am starters are ranked by their own BallroomRank score as a student; everyone else by their most recent partnership's score, the one their profile leads with. A professional start or a first season without age, collegiate or pro-am labels is not classified. How rankings work: methodology, data sources and limitations →
